We’ve worked hard to ensure that House of Oyo is the type of space that anyone and everyone can feel at home in. When you come through the front doors, you immediately feel the open, loving energy that it envelopes it. I’ve always believed that “friends are just strangers we haven’t met yet!“ —and that philosophy is what anchors House of Oyo. To me, hospitality is about creating a personal experience, so I carved out a beautiful events space that is flexible enough to be used for what I like to refer to as “quiet events”.
Sheer drapes and chandeliers with warm classic turn of the century details are paired with our modern furnishings and global art. House of Oyo is a sure to delight and impress at every turn. The first floor has three parlours that are wide open event spaces, which can comfortably host up to 30 people. While we curate our own events there from time to time, we also make it available to anyone. We’ll work with you to get the furniture setup you want, so whether you’re celebrating a bridal shower for a couple of hours, a corporate retreat for a couple of days, or a shooting a film for a couple of weeks —your program will go off without a hitch. Below are a few ideas, but you should definitely call to discuss your programing needs and if it makes sense to host it at House of Oyo.
PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS. Whether your shooting editorial and beauty shots for a magazine, wedding pictures, boudoir photo shoots, fashion spreads, or family pictures, we have multiple locations within the 5,500sqft home for you to choose from. Natural light abounds and 4 exposures mean you can choose the exact lighting you desire.
PRIVATE DINNERS. Upstairs off of the caretakers studio we have a chef’s kitchen and covered patio for alfresco dining. You also have the ability to set up a long family style dining table that can seat up to 24 people on the second floor or the first floor. Not to worry we have several approved vendors for you to choose from. If you’d like to introduce a new chef to us we will do everything possible to accommodate your request.
INTIMATE EVENTS. Perhaps you have a small event for less than 30 people —intimate music shows, film screenings, spoken word events, fund raisers and even performance art. We love the arts and have featured artists in the space before. Our parlours can be home to your listening jams, book clubs, and writer’s evenings. House of Oyo has an understated urban luxury vibe that stays true to the overall Brownstone Brooklyn aesthetic.
FRAMILY CELEBRATIONS. Whether your celebrating a baby shower or a bridal shower or even prepping for your wedding day, House of Oyo can provide a beautiful backdrop for your beautiful life event. You can reserve the home for a couple of hours or a couple of days and a member of our staff will be onsite to attend to all of your needs.
