Some day is today.
I fell in love with this home the very first day I stepped inside. I grew up in a brownstone and have a love and appreciation for turn of the century architecture. I’m also a 70’s baby and attended Brooklyn Technical High School…so I have a love for modern architecture and design. As an avid traveller and founder of Nomadic Souls, a concierge travel company, I have a first hand understanding of the importance of having ‘the feeling’ of a home away from home when traveling. House of Oyo is all of these things because I designed House of Oyo for global citizens and lovers of exquisite things and priceless experiences.
I loved this block since my childhood when my older siblings would walk me here almost every weekend to visit the Brooklyn Children’s Museum and play in Brower Park. Ten years ago, while working on Wall Street, I fell in love again and put in a bid for a different mansion on the block. That and several other deals fell through and I was heart broken as I took a pause from my home search and focused elsewhere. I promised myself it was just a pause. I always knew that someday I would “own a Brooklyn mansion and have a boutique bed & breakfast, with a farm to table restaurant and daily menu, plus speakeasy style jazz and poetry jams on weekends” …I just didn’t know when.
Some day is today.
House of Oyo is tucked away on a quiet landmarked block in Crown Heights North formerly known as Millionaire’s Row. This restored limestone mansion offers six bright and airy suites with luxurious yet understated furnishings and fixtures. We partnered with award winning designers and furniture manufacturers to create and furnish the interior and exterior living spaces. The traditional Italianate design aesthetic coupled with modern finishes gives you the best of both worlds. We are a private residence and yet it often feels like a cosmopolitan boutique hotel. We have on-call massage therapists, personal trainers, chefs, mixologists, djs, photographers, hair & make-up artists, personal shoppers and stylists —all available to make your time in New York, your project or event memorable.
House of Oyo balances the natural textures and bright decorative accents from my global travels with the minimal design, clean open spaces and neutral tones of a crisp open house. More than a synthesis of tastes, House of Oyo is meant to be both a second home and an homage to the metamorphosis of globalized cities everywhere. We are actively building the brand as a space for connecting professionals across multiple industries and beautiful souls from around the globe. Our Saint Marks Avenue location is our first full scale project that weaves together set location, special events, and home sharing.
House of Oyo is located fifteen minutes from The Barclays Center & Atlantic station, where you can connect to almost every train in the New York MTA system.
